Being a union member means you have the right to union representation during any conversations with management you think will lead to disciplinary action or termination, or adversely affect your working conditions.
Your union representative will ensure your rights aren’t violated, and that you aren’t tricked or bullied into making statements. Your right to representation is not automatic — you must request it. If your request is denied, and management continues asking questions, you may refuse to answer.
Responsibilities of Your Union Representative
Union representatives spend their workday helping members at several workplaces. When you have a question or need information, the best way to reach your union representative is by voicemail. The UFCW 951 voicemail system is always available to members at 1.800.999.0951. Union representatives are required to return your call within 24 hours.
